The Clear Lake City Green Space Preservation Committee Mission: "Maintain Clear Lake City green space for the community in order to keep and enhance the quality of life" The Clear Lake City Green Space Preservation Committee is
specifically concerned about the potential development of the Clear Lake Golf Club and the
Bay Forest and Bay Oaks drill site parks. Loss of
any green space anywhere in the Clear Lake area may have adverse effects on the
entire community in terms of aesthetics, drainage, traffic, school populations,
fire and police protection, etc. The Clear Lake City Green Space Preservation
Committee includes members from across the entire Clear Lake area
because loss of green space adversely impacts the entire Clear Lake community.
Clear Lake City Green Space Preservation
Committee Organization: The Clear Lake City Green Space Preservation Committee is part of the Clear Lake City
Civic League (CLCCL), an organization that was originally formed some
30 years ago to contest the annexation of the Clear Lake area by the city of
Houston, and has remained in existence since then to provide support to our
community. The CLCCL organization was originally formed on 9/20/65
“To engage in all activities necessary, useful or expedient, through any Legal
measures whatsoever, to promote and further the interest of civic affairs in the
CLEAR LAKE CITY community, Harris County, Texas”. The past CLCCL projects have included
supplementing the police protection, the incorporation battle with the city of Houston,
opposing proposed nearby landfills, opposing the new rail line, financial donations to
Crime Watch, providing police communications equipment, a town hall meeting promoting
joint cooperation of governmental bodies (which began the city/county library project),
and the several past attempts to develop the golf course and the rocket park. Among
other benefits, the CLCCL provides our effort with an existing non-profit legal
organization with which to conduct business and manage finances.
